Overview of the Water Pipe Camera Inspection

In-pipe camera inspections are like health check-ups for water pipes! It is essential to maintain pipeline data and to plan for updates based on this information.

According to water supply statistics, the percentage of water pipes that have exceeded their statutory useful life was 6.3% in fiscal year 2007, and it has increased to 16.3% in fiscal year 2017, with further increases expected in the future. On the other hand, the renewal rate decreased from 0.94% in fiscal year 2007 to an annual rate of 0.70% in fiscal year 2017, indicating that the budget for renewals is not keeping pace with the increasing demand for updates. As a result, the importance of asset management for the stable continuation of water supply operations in the future has been pointed out. To achieve this, it is essential to maintain pipeline data and assess the condition of pipelines through daily maintenance, as well as to carry out planned renewals based on this information. The "Internal Camera Diagnosis Manual for Water Pipes" provides a detailed overview of internal camera surveys of water pipes. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us. *This PDF document is a digest version. Catalog "About Infiltration Pathway Investigation"

Measures for cases where odors occur irregularly are published along with examples!

The section titled "Investigation of Infiltration Routes" includes cases where odors occur irregularly, such as "drain odors that can be sensed intermittently," "the smell of tobacco even though no one is smoking," and "kitchen odors detected in places other than the kitchen," along with inquiries and examples related to these issues. Additionally, we also introduce the process leading to the identification of infiltration routes. 【Example Inquiry Cases】 <Drain Odor Investigation> ■ Drain odors occurring from places other than the restroom ■ Drain odors occurring irregularly, not every day ■ Drain odors present even though the trap is not dry ■ Drain odors occurring at the same time every day ■ Drain odors occurring on rainy days *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Ground Investigation Method "Surface Wave Exploration Method" *Seminar video now available!

For residential use: Non-destructive testing that measures "areas" instead of "points," without damaging the ground! Reduce unnecessary ground improvement and piling work to cut costs!

The "Surface Wave Exploration Method" involves applying vibrations to the ground using a vibrator, and receiving those vibrations with two detectors to measure the speed of vibrations transmitted between the detectors. Since it allows for understanding the surface ground strength, it eliminates unnecessary ground improvement and pile construction judgments compared to other survey methods, thereby reducing costs. By decreasing pile construction, which is treated as underground buried objects, it becomes more environmentally friendly and minimizes the reduction of land real estate value. **Features** - Measurements are taken at five locations on the site (four corners and the center) → This helps to assess the overall ground conditions and predict internal layer inclinations. - Accurate values that do not rely on human intuition. - Measurements are taken in "areas" rather than "points." → The range between detectors (usually a circular area of 1 meter). → It is possible to obtain average ground information rather than partial information due to gravel or foreign objects. ▼ Seminar videos are currently available! We have released a video explaining three survey methods, including the "Surface Wave Exploration Method." Please take a look! *For more details, please contact us or download the PDF.*

Activity content: Humpback whales of the Ogasawara Islands

The Ogasawara Islands are one of the breeding grounds in the North Pacific, consisting of three groups.

As it is said, "Whales are creatures at the top of the food chain," their ecological status and role as higher animals in the marine ecosystem are significant. The lower organisms that serve as food for whales show considerable annual variability, and the composition of whale diets responds sensitively to these changes. Additionally, due to the characteristic of higher animals to accumulate pollutants, whales are particularly susceptible to the effects of heavy metals such as mercury and cadmium. Studying whales not only helps to elucidate their ecology but also provides clues to understanding changes in marine ecosystems and the realities of marine pollution associated with climate change.

What is an internal camera inspection?

Pipelines account for about two-thirds of water supply assets and are a major facility! It is necessary to manage them properly using asset management methods.

The "In-Pipe Camera Inspection" is a non-destructive inspection method that allows for the direct observation of the inside of water pipes while they are in use, without the need for water supply interruption. It has become widely used as a tool for effective pipeline management, accurate construction management, and planning for pipeline renewal. We introduce the use, technology, and results of the in-pipe camera inspection developed by Japan's water supply technology in the "Water Pipe In-Pipe Camera Inspection Handbook." *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. *This PDF material is a digest version. How to Plan a Water Pipe Camera Inspection

General surveys, focused surveys, completion inspections, etc.! When creating a survey plan, it is necessary to tailor the content to the purpose.

The purposes of conducting a camera survey to directly diagnose the interior of pipes are as follows: 1. Investigation of the condition of the pipeline for maintenance management (general survey) 2. Basic data for formulating rehabilitation plans such as internal cleaning and making decisions on pipeline renewal based on the internal condition and specific locations (focused survey) 3. Inspection confirmation before and after construction or work (completion inspection) When planning a survey, it is necessary to tailor the content to the objectives. Considerations when creating a plan are introduced in the "Water Pipe Internal Camera Survey Handbook." 【Common Considerations When Planning】 ■ Setting the survey objectives ■ Understanding the survey items ■ Confirming the survey implementer, implementation locations, timing, budget, etc. ■ Confirming the survey report format *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us. *This PDF document is a digest version. Implementation of internal camera inspection

It is necessary to conduct a site inspection and obtain piping diagrams to confirm the investigation conditions!

The investigation is conducted based on the design documents and a construction plan is established and implemented, but there may be cases where it cannot be carried out as planned. For this reason, it is necessary to conduct a preliminary site inspection and obtain piping diagrams to confirm the investigation conditions in advance. If the conditions are as planned, work can commence, but if there is a discrepancy between the plan and the actual site conditions, discussions with the client regarding changes to the construction conditions will be necessary. Items to be confirmed, work procedures, and points to note are introduced in the "Water Pipe Camera Inspection Handbook." *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. *This PDF material is a digest version. If you need the full version, please contact us.
